Improve Your Productivity This Week With One Simple “Brain” Hack

Do you brain dump? If you don’t, your to-do list may be suffering because of it.

A brain dump is pretty much exactly what it sounds like. It’s about taking pen to paper, stylus to app or sticky notes to board and getting all your thoughts our of your brain and down, somewhere else. It’s a release and it’s also about facing facts. Every thing you’re worrying about, questioning, feeling, needing to do should be plugged out of your brain and placed somewhere else. You’re seeking clarity during the process because clarity = focus.

When you’re brain dumping there are a few things you need to be aware of. This is not the time to hold back or limit yourself. During the process you have to cover everything you need to do, should do, have thought about doing, should think about doing, anything and everything without any sort of priority.

These include what’s distracting you? What you’re dreading? What you feel like you should be thinking about doing? What is necessary? What is important? Urgent? Write it all down.

Let yourself be random and unorganised before you begin to structure and prioritise. Brain dumping is the best cure for a sleepless night and especially great when you’re working on multiple projects at the same time
