What Would You Tell Your Younger Self?

Home / Home2 / What Would You Tell Your Younger Self?

Have you read this love letter? It’s Oprah’s note to her younger self and it really is a beauty; I especially loves how she signs off on it.

In the letter Oprah talks about the things she had to learn the hard knock school way:

  • The abuse that threatened to derail her as a young girl.
  • The challenges of being the first black news anchor at Nashville’s WLAC-TV.
  • The romantic relationships she placed above loving herself.
  • The self inflicted blows she did to her own self esteem,

It took years of reflection to glean insights  and what Oprah learned came from her experience of just living. But this isn’t just true for Oprah. We’ve all been there.

The advice that we would give to our younger selves can often help people in the same situation we were once in.

And we all have something worth sharing.

What would you share? Maybe you’d tell your younger self to listen to your calling and that it was ok not to have all the answers. Maybe the advice would be practical, like stop wearing skyscraper heels all time, that your knees would thank you for it once you got past forty. Maybe you’d tell your younger self to love deeply and don’t be overly heartbroken if it did not work out, every life experience is worth it.

What’s something you know now that you wish you could tell to your younger self about life?
