Hey! We get you. After working hard all day, you want to come home and relax in a space that is effortlessly beautiful, an oasis away from the noise and stress that comes with multitasking at work, on some days, way beyond your eight hours.
Sometimes parts of that oasis may need a bit of tweaking, for instance, swapping out the place settings on your table and giving your dining space the makeover it needs can do wonders for your well-being.
Here’s the thing we get though.
You don’t necessarily want to pour every last bit of your hard-earned money into putting said look together. However, you do want something special to signal this time of year, where the poui trees blossom their brightest and Easter signals a time of renewal and hope.
So when Dwellings invited us to take a first look at their latest arrivals of dining table accessories, which features lush patterns, fresh colours and affordable accessories, we happily acquiesced.
As expected from the store’s design team led by Vani Maharaj, we found the most gorgeous table linens, in patterns no less (these went home with us ), dishware that will add personality to your table no matter what its style, and vases with flowers that will lift your spirits with the added bonus of not having any impact on your sinus.
Here are three of our favourite looks from our private showing. All of them will work in a formal or family-friendly setting, in a large room or tiny nook.
All you have to do is this tailor the looks to your style or grab them, as is.
If you’re new to dining table decorating or looking to take your design skills up few notches think only of three words: layer, layer, layer!
Start with some tropical leaf patterned table runners and layer these blue hyacinth chargers and aqua seagrass placemats on top of them. Layering adds texture and dimension and will set the base for your visual feast.
Next, add a variety of white dishes in different sizes along with napkins. The white dishes will temper but not neutralize all the lush colours of this look.
Embellishments will always be your dining table’s friend. To enhance the look, don’t be afraid to add some more tabletop sparkle with these beaded burst aqua napkin rings along with some tropical faux florals in modern white vases.
You and your guests are guaranteed to love the island vibe of this tropical look.
Even if you’re not a fan of blues and greens and like your colours a bit more understated, you can still create this striking table by using neutral tones. Trust us. Don’t underestimate the power of natural materials cleverly worked into this setting. Working them into your table design is one way to add instant warmth to your table in a way that’s calming and anything but boring.
A variety of earth and wooden tones punctuated with green succulents and bits of pattern will give a warm and inviting look to your dining room especially if you’re going for a rustic feel.
In this look, a solid, grey wood dining table surrounded by wooden chairs set the look for the rich, earth-tone dishware and white wicker vases.
The entire look is topped off with green succulents and other interesting elements like the wooden bowls and natural looking hyacinth chargers.
Once you bring nature into a room you will feel infinitely better and less stressed in your home.
The intricate table setting here is so much more than just dishware. The creative centrepieces with its tall red vases will add instant architecture to your dining area, energise the time you spend at your table while giving your guests an immediate conversation starter.
To get the look layer these richly coloured and patterned placemats, plates and napkins for a personality-packed scene.
Vibrant glassware complements the look and can be used to make your everyday meals more fun; they also mix well with formal pieces.
For the colour averse person, this look might be a bit of an overkill but if you like your room to look both eclectic and electric, this tablescape is perfectly perfect.
