We’ve used the following 5 workouts for years. At the office, these YouTube workouts have become our foolproof fitness friends. They range from the fun, to the challenging, to the: “You want me to do what?!!!” videos. On the list, there is a variety of workouts for every fitness level and yes, we swear we have tried them all ourselves!
The other good news is that all these YouTube videos are part of each presenter’s own fitness channels so there is a lot to choose from and boredom will never be possible. Here’s the thing, when we have passed the worst of this Coronavirus crisis, our aim should be to find ourselves in the best physical and mental shape ever because there is another battle ahead: How to reconstruct a new reality knowing we have come through some very difficult times.

Jenifer Johnson may have created the JJ dance method but she also bottled in the process, her feel-good attitude and diamond-like smile that will make you want to booty shake throughout each of her workouts. Now, this workout is full of cardio dance moves. It’s energetic. Its high-intensity but you do feel good. The fact that you’re also learning moves you can take on the dance floor is a plus in our books.
Highlights: Time flies when you are doing this 25-minute workout. The workout can also be paired with a strength training workout for a complete 50-minute programme. If you love to dance and can drag your gaze off Jennifer’s killer arms then this burn is fierce, and a whole heap of fun
Intensity: Easy to Moderate.
Did you know Bob Harper has a YouTube Channel? Yep! that Bob Harper! The coach from the Biggest Loser and the fittest guy on the planet, who by the way, suffered a cardiac arrest just two years ago. Bob’s workout channel is awesome. Awesomely hard. Awesomely good (his compound moves leaves you in sweaty twisted heaps). And awesomely badass. Among our favourites is his core workout, which is 40 minutes long and includes an ab roll series that even we can’t get the hang of yet. The plank workouts are not to be discounted either. He does them all, from side planks to burpee planks, this core work will leave you gasping and close to 400 calories down each time you do it.
Highlights: We like the build-up, it’s slow and well-paced before it gets intense. It may take you a while to get on your feet during the ab rollers but the challenge is what will keep you coming back. This is the best core workout we have tried on YouTube this year. Another plus is Bob’s gorgeous black and white aesthetic, which sets him above the other trainers in terms of workout stage design.
Intensity: Difficult to Insane.
If you ever wanted your best girlfriend to greet you each day after a tough day at the office for a workout, Cassey Ho would be that girl. Fun, full of personality and always welcoming, Cassey is an award-winning fitness instructor, entrepreneur and personality who became the queen of fitness YouTube land with her Blogilates workouts. In this video, Cassey fuses pop music together with her classical Pilates routine for a 30-minute workout that tones your arms, back, legs and abs. I know what you’re thinking. “You can’t do that in 30 minutes!” But Cassey has found the way, and at the end of it all, you’ll be dripping sweat.
Highlights: We like the timing of this specific workout This is a routine that is very short on time (30 minutes) and yet is super effective. It will remain your go-to regimen when work and life get crazy busy but you still need a good workout.
We adore Coach Kozak and his wife, Claudia, who are the homegrown stars of the YouTube channel, HASfit. Their workouts have a boy and girl next door feel; its cosy, welcoming and friendly. If that sounds like your couch, be warned this pair turns up the heat up with workouts geared towards your total body as well as specific body parts. The married duo guides you through each workout with ease and the reassurance that “you can go at your own pace.” Claudia focuses on the beginner to intermediate level and Coach Kozack zeroes in on the advanced. Their chemistry may be one reason why HASfit users have completed over 80 million minutes of full-length workouts; the channel has over 1,000,000 YouTube viewers.
Highlights: We like this workout because of the tone it gives our arms after consistently doing it for a month. This workout burns, your arms will tremble and it will be oh, so worth it.
Intensity: Easy as you get to choose your weight.
This workout is a killer, like killer everything. Let us count the ways. Killer cardio? Check. Killer sculpting? Check. Killer compound moves? Check. Killer calorie burn? Check. This workout offers a no-frills, high intensity, kickass workout that burns 500 calories in one 45-minute shot. You’ll sweat. You’ll think: “What the heck?” You’ll have several glasses of water and you’ll stop. But if you stick to it, at least three times a week, we promise you results to be proud of. Oh! One more thing, Ms Jenkins is among the most qualified trainers.
