First thing to note New Year's Eve does not always require a ballroom gown.
I love pants and a jumpsuit is something I’ll always swoon over, so for me a onesie that comes in a stunning two-toned sequined fabric  is another way to look glam on the eve of a new decade. To make this look fun and chic, I added a floral headband and a great pair of string pearls from Dreamstone Jewellery which I am totally obsssed with because of the the bold pendants that hang from it. Another styling tip for this outfit: don’t wear open toe shoes with a palazzo styled jumpsuit. In my opinion, a perfect finishing touch for this look is a great pair of pumps which looks so classic peeking out from under the hem of the jumpsuit. And if you really want full on glam make those pumps sparkle, in silver or gold.
Next Can We Talk About Metallics.
An edgier approach to your News Year’s Eve style is to wear metallics but not just with one select piece, I am talking metallics from head to toe. I actually wore this look to a holiday party a few weeks ago, you might remember it from my Instagram here! I had so many of you ask where I got it from I decided to shoot it for this post. Now I know. I know, another pants! But I like the modern approach to this suit, the oversized jacket belted at the waist, the pants that sits above the ankles which has a slit at the front. This is not a power suit, it’s a glam suit which can be balanced out by the chicest pair of shoes and bag.Â
You Can Say Yes To The Dress On New Years Eve.
Ok, so maybe you don’t want to wear pants and I get that. Some of my favourite New Year’s Eve styles of years past have included big, frothy tutu skirts while doing the magical countdown. I am a big fan of big skirts but for this style guide I wanted to try something news. Enter this Angelique Jolie thigh-high moment with the CLD gown and immediately if felt as if the celebrations would get taken up a few notches.
This dress is the perfect balance between sexy and classy. I love that even though I’m covered up, I can still show off a little skin, and it pairs perfectly with pumps, yes again. But this outfit also looks great with strappy heels. For the ultimate va-va-voom I paired up with jeweller Josanne Mark for some wondrful bold custom pieces that included a stunning necklace and bold cuffs along with an intricate albeit delicate pair of earrings.
Let me know which look is your favorite and what you’re planning on doing for NYE in the comments below!
One final note as we age, we streamline our look. We refine. But experimenting with fashion should never stop. We should enjoy fashion for what it brings: confidence, a way of connecting with others and communicating our true selves. A moment of beauty in a world that needs it.
HAPPY NEW YEAR! 🙂
