I met with a group of female founders recently. They showed up for my 5-day Instagram Challenge and each day during the hours we spent together, I noticed something. The desire to show up perfect was hampering mostly everyone from actually, well, showing up.
*** Here is how it went down: ***
Perfect Is An Illusion
People created their IG accounts and never used them. “I can’t share my content until it’s perfect,” some said,
Others watched what their competitors were doing and felt small.
Some were waiting and waiting until they understood every facet of the social media platform perfectly. And you know how that went, right?
But let’s talk about PERFECT?
Let’s break this down, shall we?
Perfection is an illusion.
As in, it doesn’t exist.
Now don’t get me wrong. I believe in high-quality, exceptional work but I also know that perfection is entirely subjective and no matter how hard you try, someone will think it’s awful.
Here’s my deep belief after releasing Simplify this month. Your projects, dreams, launches don’t have to be perfect before you share them with the world…just release it, and fix it along the way.
YEAH, I SAID THAT!
There’s no such thing as perfect and the sooner we acknowledge this as truth, the quicker we’ll be able to step into the world owning our public displays of growth, power, and worthiness.
I’ve come to believe that perfection isn’t achievable, but the more we create, work, and amend, the closer we get to sharing our purpose with the world.
So, lovelies, it’s time to dust off those imperfect ideas and projects. You must share them because the sooner you do, the more time you have to fix them as you keep moving forward.
I want to tell you one more thing.
I didn’t create <<<< Simplify >>> for your social media marketing to be perfect.
All the customizable captions, the beautiful Caribbean inspired life and biz photos, the social media planners, and marketing magazines and social media masterclasses were designed to help you be consistent with your marketing online, to be more confident and build an online business you could be proud of.
I believe in you.
I know you’re destined for great things. Now stop wanting every single thing to be perfect and just go, go create.
