I’m a storyteller at heart.
Give me a product or service and I‘ll be able to find that one intangible thing that will make people stop scrolling on their Feed and connect in a meaningful way with the gift being offered to the world
So when Courts, the country largest furniture retailer, challenged our agency to create a sleep campaign that was designed for social media, I was thrilled and went immediately into listening and strategy mode. In meeting after meeting, I spent a great deal of time soaking in all the business objectives that needed to be met and built a campaign whose cornerstone was a lead generation interactive quiz that was solidly built on a funnel marketing system.
Thankfully, we also got to be super creative as content creators. We produced a series of videos, blog posts, captions, and photographs. It was our most significant work since we launched Forward Forty Digital in 2019. We worked incredibly hard at it and we delivered our best but producing all those campaigns about sleep, learning from the experts about its benefits and interviewing women who had sleep disorders made me realise that we all struggle a lot in being still.
We find our worth in doing, not being, and the fight to be still, to get enough rest, to savour the moment is a battle for most of us.

This is not always good. The stress we feel is as basic an indicator as it gets that we take on too much.
After working on the campaign for over 2 months, my ah-ha moment came in knowing that while rest may not come easy, getting in as many restful hours in bed will always be worth it.
In slowing down you may have to do a digital detox. You may need to meditate, change the times you go to bed ad the food you eat before you do. Stillness helps with rest, and rest helps to silence the busy world and brings back the inner voice… the one that usually whispers and might not be heard over all the noise.
In all the craziness of doing and not being, in all our attempts of being overachievers, maybe, just maybe, we need to create a season of slow and bask a bit more in a slower pace. Busy is not a badge of honour. Living well is.
