- Best Spa
2018 started in Mauritius, a tropical paradise located off the southeast coast of Africa. There was so much to love and explore on this beautiful island. However, what topped my best list was the amazing spa treatments I enjoyed at the resort. It was at one of my spa treatments I discovered the magic of amber oil, a treasured souvenir I have used almost every night since leaving Mauritius in January.
- Best pineapple cocktail
This was such an adventure and one of the destinations in 2018 I was most excited to visit. Not only did Malta make it onto every popular must see travel destination list. It was also the destination I choose to have my first girl’s trip after 6 years. Malta was just where this girl wanted to be; especially after sipping my perfect pineapple cocktail beach side lounging in the Mediterranean sun.
- Best river cruise
It is still difficult to put into words the thrill of visiting mysterious Egypt but of all the fascinating experiences none was more memorable than cruising along the river Nile. By day the ancient temples perched on its banks unveiled themselves, and by night the tranquillity of the river was soothing to this weary traveller making the Nile the best cruise experience in 2018.
- Best foul weather gear
In 2018 I made my second visit to Copenhagen and true to form the weather was wet and windy. In this part of the world they say, there is no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothes. It was time to fix that, and luckily Danish designs can withstand it all, while remaining light and durable. By the end of my trip I was warm, but looking cool.
- Best waterfall
With over 300 waterfalls in Norway not only are they abundant they are majestic and powerful. In fact, the water courses in Norway are breathtaking. Making it onto my 2018 list as the best waterfall I’ve seen this year.
- Best chocolate
Swiss Alps, Swiss banks and Swiss chocolate are possibly the three things Switzerland is most famous for. But it was their Swiss chocolate that makes my best list for 2018. On a recent day trip to Lugano it became my sinful desire. The Swiss are master chocolatiers and the end product is a rich creamy concoction and just seems to melt in your mouth.
- Best Fireworks
Of course Paris is one of the most famous and well known destinations in the world. However, in 2018 its Bastille’s day celebrations made certain that the city of lights would go uncontested. Best fireworks in 2018 or ever goes to Paris.
- Best ice cream
One word –Chocolat- it’s the name of the gelateria in Milan where hands down I have found the best gelato I have ever tasted and tasted and tasted. There are many fine gelaterias in Milan. So much so, you know a country takes their gelato seriously when there is an actual guide-The Gelaterie d’Italia.
- Best snowy day
Snow made a rare appearance in Rome this year and lucky me I was there to experience it all. Not only was it a surprise since it was the 1st snow fall in 6 years. The city and its iconic monuments were magically transformed into a jaw dropping winter wonderland.
- Best Instagramable hotel
I often wonder why hotels don’t pay more attention to creating spaces that are Instagramably more friendly. By that I mean, creating beautiful, interesting spaces that motivate guest to go selfie crazy so when I found one that got it right, I started clicking right away. Hotel Ansitz Plantitscherhof in Merano-Italy helped me create picture-perfect moments from the time I entered.
11. Cinque Terra
- Best day trip
I’ve already confessed my love of day trips and in 2018 most of the weekends I wasn’t travelling, I was on a day trip or adventure to somewhere. Of all the magical day trip destinations in 2018; it is Cinque Terra that rises to the top. Located on the Italian Riviera these rugged cliffs link five amazing towns that even today seems that they have been hidden away.
- Best agrotourism
2018 taught me that agrotoursim is definitely a thing. Greece, Spain, Africa, South America are just a few of the many and growing destinations that offer working vacations to tourist that love getting their hands dirty. This year Tuscany was my destination of choice for agrotourism.
Just wait, while the count down to 2019 is on, I think I will be able to squeeze in one more travel adventure for 2018. So stay connected and share with us some of your travel best in 2018.

Grab Your Free 2019 December Social Media Monthly Calendar And Crush Your Holiday Marketing.
Planning your content calendar is tough enough during the year, but as the holiday approaches things can get more intense. For some #bossbabes, the months between October right up until Christmas represents over 50% of annual sales, for others, the percentage is much more. How do you plan content for the holidays?
Let’s get started with the understanding about the timing of your planning. When to start?I recommend planning your holiday content strategy 12 months before the holidays.Say What??!!I know that sounds really far fetched but think about it; there is really no better time to rationalise the kind of content that will have the most impact with your audience than directly after the season’s end. The period between Boxing Day and New Year’s Day is often best. Not only can you scan the feeds you love for inspiration (they will be filled with all kinds of relevant seasonal content) but the quiet days after Christmas allow for reflection, the essence of what content planning is all about. Now the process does not have to be intense, it’s the holidays after all, but you can scribble notes, story ideas and relevant sites in the early sections of your Social Media Planner. That way you’re sure to remember and begin your execution strategy by mid-year Yes, that soon! There’s nothing wrong with getting the holiday conversation going early. Start hinting at it by thinking about what you’ll be selling and how you can align your captions, graphic cards, stories, images and even your videos with your key sales objectives. Remember, as I keep preaching, connections matter first, then the sale.“Ok, but what should you do now?I’ve got you.
