Among all the female entrepreneurs I teach who are learning to sell online and build successful e-commerce platforms there are about ten members who are full-time bloggers.
And when I say full time, I mean they sit in front of their keyboards and churn out 1-2 amazing blog posts every single week.
They don’t earn a penny from their blog posts.
Most of them write to create brand awareness, others do it for the joy.
Those are pretty fine goals but I’m a digital and social media conversion coach and I deeply believe that if they are spending that much time writing, an equal amount of time should be spent learning systems that allow them to earn cash from their blogs and sell online.
It’s one form of PASSIVE INCOME. You do a ton of work upfront, then settle in and watch the system work for you.
Anyway, back to my story.
Last week, I put up a simple graphic in Simplify’s private membership Group inviting the bloggers to a show-and-tell session.
Alongside this graphic, I captioned how I wanted to share my “my blog for income system” that I had studied, tweaked, adapted and was now ready to roll out.
My new system was not yet public and I said in my invitation that those who attended the Friday, 4 p.m session would get the first, insider’s look into what I would be rolling out in October and how I was setting up a blog system to sell online.
Notice I didn’t say:
“You’re one step away from a life you can ONLY dream of”
“You’re 30 minutes away from having a financial freedom, and earning US $5,000 every month passively with your blog.”
“Come learn how to generate $$$$$$ and earn BIG Money with your blog.”

Know This When You’re About How To Sell Online
And it harks back to something my dad used to say, “If it looks like a duck, talks like a duck, and smells like a duck, it’s probably a duck.”
And it will sell like a duck.
YOU DON’T NEED TO HYPERVENTILATE OR EXAGGERATE WHEN YOU SELL ONLINE.
The internet is transparent. Many people won’t buy from you if promise the sun, the moon and the stars. Ok, ok, maybe some will, but the majority won’t.
“4 Ways to Make $500 Million In Just One Weekend!” “How to Hire a VA For Less Than 25 Cents a Day.” “How To Make Millions While You Sleep, ” will not cut it.
Instead of selling hyperbole, sell your desired people life-long and /or money making skills that they need to succeed in life and business.
Last week, in my case, it was blogging. For you, it could it could be copywriting, being fashion confident, sales, or learning home decor stuff.
Whatever you do, sell your knowledge. Back it up with your expertise. Show evidence of results from working with others. Wrap it all up in a positioning statement and ground it in the backend work of an irresistible offer.
Your Offer could be this: *** “I’ll teach you how to edit your wardrobe, so you can be stylish and confident each time you open your closet. If I fail to do so, you’ll get a full refund!!!***
You’re not over promising, your language is clear and your refund guarantee will be like music to their ears.
Your Offer Determines How You Sell Online
Oh, and don’t forget your Offer must include:
- Your process: How you do what you do
- Your result: What results should they expect?
- Time / duration: You need two things here: a specific time frame to solve their problems and a honest scarcity model for yourself that doesn’t dupe people into taking out their wallets as fast as they can only to realize they could have waited.
It needs to make your customer say: “OMG, I need this! Take my money NOW and help me.”
Building an irresistible offer, is by far, the most important thing you’ll ever do to sell online. The way you position, launch, talk and automate it are next.
So that’s it. That’s how you sell online. No shiny pennies, no over talking, no overselling. Just your Offer. Position. Process. Results. Timeframe. Return Guarantee.
