When you live in a two-climate country it’s tough to see something in a magazine and know you’ll never wear it at home. A great felt hat is one of my fashion undoings but only when I travel, at home I’d boil under its brim.
Into that same category I’d add chic coats, over the knee boots and scarves. No matter how fashion forward they look on the women in the magazines, the scoffs received are sometimes not worth the effort to try and make them adaptable.
There is no denying its power and the fact that it’s one of the few winter staples anyone can take and make their own.
Take the leopard print ankle boots, sure it’s trendy but it’s also a classic. Its neutral tone means it will go a long way in your closet tying together what you already own along with a handful of stylish additions you may pick up.
Recently my friend Melissa Jones and I had a quick chat about how we’d wear ours. She opted for jeans and T-shirt, with her tall, sleek, model body that works perfectly. I’m meatier, older too, so when it comes to styling I looked for options that were not as form fitting but just as much fun and sexy.
