Behind The Scenes March 2023

Wanna know the truth about __________ (my start as a wedding photographer/how I became a yoga teacher/ an accountant etc.)?
It’s certainly not as picture-perfect of a story as I might like to tell. I started out ______ (second and third shooting (badly) on 15-hour Saturdays/looking for help recovering from a car wreck/crunching numbers at a company who had little respect for my time and talent etc.).

And what grew from all that is something I couldn’t be more proud of. It’s okay to navigate the murky stuff before getting to the other side. Send me some love in the comments if you agree!

If you feel like you’re not moving fast enough, remember this: a house does not become a home the day you move in, neither do our __________ (efforts/dreams/etc.).
That house needs to feel settled in, you need to know what goes where, and it needs your time, attention and love to evolve into what you want it to be.
It was the same with my (business name or description eg: my salon). ____ (Share your behind the scene experience of needing time to build something successful).

You know what’s funny? Social media vs. reality. I know we always say it’s not a real place.

Case in point…

No one can deny I ___ (an undeniable fact about you) always try to show you the very best highlights of ____(serving customers at my restaurant /my work at my t-shirt company/etc.].

But today, I __________ (describe something that didn’t go as planned: I tripped and fell at Starbucks/ lost a client and felt so depressed / took way longer to complete a job that I thought would take me half the time), but I didn’t post any of it.

Tell me, am I the only one who posts highlights of my life? Do you think as small biz owners, we should be more real and vulnerable in a space where everyone else looks so perfect? Tell me below, I really want to know.

Did you ever find (to your own surprise) that_____(you were the life of the dinner party table when you sat on the right of the host /you were most inspired to think about a new idea while taking long drives/ you did your best mental reset when you took a day off in the middle of the week)?
Well, I’ve found that when I’ve got a ton to get done, I sometimes work best in unexpected places.
Lately, that’s been ___( at the beach sitting on a comfortable chair I bring from home/ at a coffee shop where the buzz gives me such a productive high/ in my garden where the sound of cars and birds in the neighbourhood keep me company)
_ I’d have thought ____( the cafe noise of people coming and going would be a total deterrent, but the energy has a completely opposite effect/that I’d feel lonely at the water’s edge and spend just an hour or two, it turns out, I work at the beach for a full day and get a lot done etc.)
What about you? Are there any unexpected locations that really get your creative juices flowing?

My current tool obsession for work is my (sewing machine/ my wheel, my new lens etc). It helps me to (insert the benefit of having it in a way that allows your customer to see how you create.)
