My Personal Takes October 2021

Caring What Others Think

I’d be lying if I said I didn’t care what other people think of me.

I’m human, so of course I _______ (like it when my work is appreciated / enjoy when people compliment me / am delighted my reputation is solid among my peers etc).

But I know there is something way bigger than seeking validation from others i.e. caring more about what I think of myself; and loving me in the process.

Doing Well In My Business and Building Empathy

Is there a part of you that feels guilty because you’re doing well with your small business?

I feel that with the world crumbling all around us, and with our economy so shaky and so many people out of jobs, I shouldn’t feel joyful because I have ______(work/ contracts/ clients who are giving me repeat work).

But I’ve realized being happy with _________(who I am / how I am going in business _______(fuels me / makes me realize how much years I’ve put into the foundation of building loyal customers/ makes me happy that I pivoted successfully).

Being unhappy in solidarity only brings negative energy and helps no one. What matters is _______ (how I help others / understanding pain and having empathy).

My Well-being Mantra

My mantra lately has been (to look after my physical well-being, get stronger as I get older, stretch every single day, get in a sweat every other day).

If you’ve been around for a while you know I like setting goals, and I don’t just want to do it (for my small business. for others, just to check it off a list)

I like knowing my end goal. Taking the next step, doing one more movement and breathing in the joy of taking care of me.

How about you? What’s your relationship been with self-care these days?

A Note To Your Younger Self

This is me (5, 10, 15 years ago), when I first opened (my shop, online business, became an entrepreneur).

If I could go back and tell her anything I would say: “Stop worrying so much about tomorrow, the bump you’re facing is just a (fork in the road, a teachable moment, a hurdle to get over).

I’d tell her:

1.

2.

3.

And I’d say to don’t bake pies for people looking for crumbs.

What advice would you give yourself ((5, 10, 15 years ago)?
