15. How To Show Your Work To Motivate Your Followers

People ask me all the time___(what makes me tick so loudly on social media / how do I continue to show off my work so religiously/ what makes me post even when the numbers don’t show me love)?

I tell them it’s my stubborn gladness.

____( I don’t feed the trolls/ I detach my ego from what I post/ I know I am not in charge of outcomes, just my work/ I don’t attach my self worth to the LIKES I get or do not get).

Doing ___(this/ all these things) allows me to___ (keep focus on creating/ to continosly build my business/ form a like minded community of _____).

Showing your work will bring you all kinds of joy when you work with stubborn gladness, I swear.

13. What Community Means To Me

I was reading a book this weekend as part of my New Year’s Resolution to read a book a month.

And there was a quote that stuck out for me. It read ” Don’t waste time following people just because it will get you somewhere.

Don’t talk to people you don’t want to talk to and don’t talk about stuff you don’t want to. If you want followers, be someone worth following.”

That stayed with me and it had such an impact.

Here is what I did to make sure my content was worth following and I was remaining true to my social media purpose. I _____

1.

2.

3.

It is true that social media forces us to think about (popularity/ likeability/ profitability) but I think there are other things that are important too___(curiosity, real connectivity and community)

Am I wrong to think this way?

12. Social Media Creates Belonging

People talk about love languages but I think a community language is also a form of love.

I am driven by (a sense of belonging/ meeting the needs of my followers/ communicating in ways I know are transformative.)

When I look back on____ (all the videos and images/ podcasts/ blog posts I wrote) and all the captions I’ve shared on social media, not to mention the LIVES,) it’s clear to me that___( I want to feel seen and known for who I am, the uniqueness I bring to the world/ be part of something bigger than myself/ help people where I know I can)

Belonging feels special. And I’m old and young enough to still believe that we’re all growing together, every day.

11. I Like Engagement

The adrenaline rush of this video of me ___( styling this shelf for my shop/ showing how I prepare my restaurant’s favourite meal/ showing how to plan content etc) kept me up late last night just going through all the comments.)

Do you think it’s ok to be honest about (wanting to grow an audience/ caring about the engagement/ being psyched about the engagement on social media )?

You may think no but _____( I like this game of trying to figure out what speaks to people/ these numbers tell me I am doing something right / data does not lie and what I share online and even in conversation is causing people to take note.

In all aspects of my life I can think of, I like taking notice of what makes people tick.. What has an emotional impact? What ideas and feelings make us feel we belong in this community/.

I know the numbers don’t always show me ❤️‍ and that wanting my business to reach more people can make me feel (so insecure/ nervous/ anxious about if I am doing the right thing.

I constantly think “who am I to ask YOU to participate in my journey?”

But then I remember to detach my ego and know sometimes the content will work and sometimes it won’t. What I have to remember is that social media has ( enriched my life / allowed me space to explore my passions/ made me diligent about showing my story).

And I’m not doing it alone. I’m doing it with you.
