4 STEPS TO FREE ONLINE LEADS

If you don’t have a pipeline to bring in consistent leads, then you won’t have a successful online business

I know you’ve heard me talk about building a pipeline to get consistent leads before [HERE].

✒️️ And maybe you believe—for a split-second—that you can get leads the old way… errrrrr cold calls, cold emails, reliance on your immediate network.

Cool. I’m not knocking that. It works.

But on these internet streets that connect you to people you don’t know but who want what you have…

…there’s a place for simplicity, steadiness, and a system that works to bring in passive income without you being yoked to social media.

Consistent posting on social media works at its very best when you have a free Lead Magnet to drive people towards your paid product via a simple system.

TBH, I can lead magnetise anything if you give me a minute… lock that into your mental lexicon because I’m going to show you how to get FREE online leads via a lead magnet in 4 practical steps.

Step 1 |Get into Mindset Mapping for FREE Online Leads

Gonna get juicy with this first step.

I’ve heard everything from:

“I don’t know what to offer with my lead magnet,” to

“lead magnets are annoying and no one opens them anymore,” to

“it’s hard to make money from a free offer.”

But I have found that none of this is true.

Not when you start constructing your lead magnet from the bottom up.

So, your first mental model is to think about your paid product or service (at the end of your funnel) and then get into the mindset of your customer as she searches the internet to buy that one offer that can solve her problem.

Zero in on her feelings. What is she thinking about as she considers the problems she’s facing?

What avenues does she have available to help her find the solution she seeks?

Focus on her deepest desires, but also the objections that live rent free in her head as she contemplates getting to her end goal or desired state.

This kind of reflection will help you with your next step. And not to worry I’m coming with an example.

Step 2 | Work Backwards And Write A List 

Next, I need you to write down a list of the things you offer that could get your ideal customer to her end goal and make her feel like she finally found the solution.

I need you to number that list.

Time to drop the case study.

Let’s assume you’re selling a course on how to grow a beautiful home flower garden from five packets of seeds.

Not only do you sell the course, you also sell the garden accessories: the seeds, gloves, garden tools.

Your aim is to get free leads to this paid offer via a simple online system. This is where your lead magnet or free offer comes in.  

For your free offer let’s assume you’re thinking about creating a  guide to teach home decor enthusiasts (your ideal client, in this case) how to create stunning floral arrangements for their coffee and dining tables.

This is your lead magnet idea but you don’t know how to develop the idea. 

BTW, I signed up for this exact course during the pandemic.

So, on this list I need you to write down all the elements your ideal customer should have a good grasp of before creating her arrangements.

Your list could look something like this: 

Select flowers that complement each other.

Choose a vase that suits the style and size of the arrangement.

Prep the flowers.

Arrange the base flowers.

Add filler flowers.

Create height and depth.

Ensure proper spacing.

Check for balance.

Final touches.

See what you did there? You drafted all the necessary steps your ideal customer would  have to take to create stunning floral arrangements for her home.

By working backwards and thinking about all the micro-steps that tap into her deepest needs, you essentially began to carve out a lead magnet suited for your ideal customer

Listen, if you’re not working backwards, thinking through these kinds of  steps logically, no matter how simple they are, you’re—respectfully—creating a lead magnet the long and wrong way,

Here’s my big “FF take” on this—

You’re the expert. In this example, I used flowers, but it could be  just about any product or service.

Many folks will want a piece of your genius because what’s simple to you, isn’t to them.

Once you know your ideal customer, play to this important fact.

Step 3 | Find the Initial Crucial Challenge for Lead Magnet Success

I’ve already given you a gentle kick in the pants to make that list. I need you to become obsessed with it.

Because from there you can pick one step (or compile a few steps under one umbrella) and then think about why that single step is crucial.

Yep, I’m back to the flowers example. 

From the list, pick an initial challenge.

The step that stands out  is choosing the right flowers.

Remember Step No. 1 from your original list?

Here’s why I picked that step?

If your ideal client doesn’t choose the right flowers (the very first step), then creating a stunning coffee table arrangement is super hard—perhaps even impossible.

Compare this to messing up the final touches—she might just have an arrangement that’s a bit off-balance. While not ideal, it’s not a disaster.

So, selecting the right flowers is what I call a ‘Crucial Initial Challenge.’

Solving this challenge paves the way for the rest of the arrangement process.

Initial challenges make perfect lead magnets and create a super easy way to attract leads and get their email addresses which is why you’re doing all this. 

Having an email address gives you direct pipeline to link to your paid offer.

But you’ve got to take a few more steps, so stick withe me. We’re almost to the end.

There are many formats you can use  to develop your lead magnet, Earlier I had you develop a guide but it could have been:

  • A video tutorial
  • A template that teaches your ideal customer about selecting flowers
  • It could be a  five step workbook or,
  • A 10 day challenge where everyday you provide one tip about different flowers and colours and species and how they complement each other.

Whatever your lead magnet, you have one goal:

To solve the initial challenge of your potential customer from start to finish.

Now, I need to be clear here, as clear as a freshly unboxed mirror.

A lead magnet is niched. It ain’t for everyone. 

Make sure whatever you name it…

 The name  is so  dialled into your ideal customer’s desires that she doesn’t hesitate to get your lead magnet and you get in return get the most precious currency in all of the internet…her  email address

And  BRAVA… here’s where the connection between your free offer and your paid offer  comes in.

Let’s get into the final step.

Step 4 | From FREE Online Leads to Paying Customers

Your amazing lead magnet allowed your ideal customer to trust you. With it, you taught or shared something incredibly valuable.

So, your goal at the end of your freebie (LEAD MAGNET), which she has in her hands, is to mention the remaining problems on your list and position your paid product and service as the solution to the rest of the journey.

So, maybe you’ve developed a paid product: A course on how to build a simple flower garden with five packets of seeds with all the accessories.

You can sell your course in a simple message, an email series, or a call to action that is embedded right inside of your lead magnet.

Here’s an example of a simple message that fits the example I’ve been sharing with you all along

Here’s What You’ll Say:

Now that you’ve mastered choosing the perfect flowers, you’re ready to take the next step in transforming your home into a floral paradise.

This is the simplest of systems. 

Now of course there are others that are more complex but I wanted to give you something you can start in a week or less, and with just 4 steps.

So this is how your lead magnet can lead to a pipeline of sales. 

Because when you post on social media you can now be directing your ideal people to your lead magnet or free offer with content, ads, stories, reels.

Once you automate this systems the $$$$ flow on repeat and you’re not just  posting for posting sake.
